PraLayam as last resort to prevent us from doing further sins

Swami Desikan describes the act of PraLayam as a merciful act of
Dayaa Devi just to prevent us from doing further sins, similar to mom
putting mischievious kids to bed to prevent them from doing further
mischiefs. Here the word “Sancharam” refers to retracting, similar to
going back in a dance. During praLayam, the whole world retracts
back to Him and remain quiet until Shrishti. So, PraLayam is not
considered as punishment but making a change in the course.
