Shloka 58
SharanAgathi means depending only on Lord Srinivasa’s Dayaa
Swami Desikan beautifully explains the concept of SharanAgathi in
this Shloka by describing about the bird ChAthakA. ChAthakA birds
survive only on rain water and will not and cannot drink water on the
ground. If they try to bend their neck something blocks their throat to
prevent them to drink water. Lord Srinivasa’s Dayaa is like dark
clouds pouring rain which quenches the thirst of those who attained
SharanAgathi like ChAthakA birds. Such is the concept of
SharanAgathi.
