Dayaa Devi pours like a rain to benefit one and all
Swami Desikan, a skillful poet and a great devotee of Lord of
ThiruvEnkatam comes up with different analogies to convey the
message to us about the Dayaa GunA of Lord. In this Shloka Swami
describes Dayaa Devi as cloud which pours rain at times of need
with right amount. Here while he describes Dayaa Devi as rain
bearing cloud, the rain water is described as essence of GunAs from
Lord who is an Ocean. The GunAs drawn is given to one and all with
right amount of special qualities such as Souseelam, Soulabyam,
Vatsalyam etc. Dayaa Devi drenches Thirumala with this rain and
hence the entire world. Like how rain does not descriminate anyone
as higher or lower, as rich or poor, Dayaa Devi does not descriminate
anyone and passes on the qualities across all Caste, Creed, Religion,
Gender or Nationality.
Ocean is bearing lots of water but that water is directly not usable.
Likewise the KalyAnA GuNAs of Lord of Thiruvenkatam cannot be
obtained directly without the help of Dayaa Devi. Dayaa Devi draws
the essence of the GuNAs of Lord and gives to us as pouring rain
which is usable by all.
Swami Desikan implies several points through this Shloka. Lord is
beyond color, creed, caste. Lord’s other GuNAs can bnefit the
chEthanams only because of His Dyaa GuNA. Lord always find ways
and means to ensure that everyone is benefited and he is full of
Mercy.
One can also derive that Dayaa Devi acts like AcharyAs here by
bringing the essence of Lord’s GuNAs to us and hence the
importance of ArchayAs.
